The weekly watch list — what earned the couch this week
I'm starting a new weekly habit: a public log of what I'm watching, reading, and listening to. Taste is a muscle, and this is my small way of keeping it honest.
I’m starting a small, public ritual. A weekly log of the film, television, books, or podcasts that earned my attention. Welcome to the watch list.
This isn’t an exercise in becoming a tastemaker. It’s a commitment to a clarifying practice. We are what we consume, and forcing myself to articulate a verdict on it is a way to keep my thinking sharp. Taste is a muscle, and this is the workout.
The internet is a firehose of frictionless recommendations, most of it algorithmically-generated dross or thinly-veiled marketing. A human filter is an increasingly rare and valuable thing. This is my small attempt to apply one.
The rule is one honest line for each item. A single sentence that gets to the heart of what I actually thought, not a rehashed synopsis. Was it worth the time? Did it deliver on its promise? What will I remember about it in a month?
This first post is a placeholder. It is, to be blunt, a note to my future self — a wireframe for a weekly habit I intend to build. It’s the empty template I now have a recurring responsibility to fill. It’s a system designed to hold me accountable.
Putting your thoughts out in the open, even on something as trivial as a television show, keeps you honest. It forces you to have a perspective. It’s a low-stakes way to practice the art of shipping the work and owning the opinion.
Airing your influences is the only way to refine them.
TL;DR
I'm starting a new weekly habit: a public log of what I'm watching, reading, and listening to. Taste is a muscle, and this is my small way of keeping it honest.
